My Lakeside Town
by Arlyn Ruzycki
Across Lake Erie to Pennsylvania
The lighthouse shines on shipping lanes
The silence is broken when the fog horn
sounds
The Welland Canal flows through our town
It's no wonder tourists come to us from far and wide
Boats, cars, buses and bikes they ride
Bike pathways wind through the town by the mile
When you pass other bikers, you always get smiles
The shops along West Street are sure to please
Selling trinkets and treasures in the soft lake breeze
Friends and family gather at the park by the shore
Biking, swimming, tobogganing, kite flying & more!
Eat-in or take-out, the food's always great
Cafes and restaurants ready to fill your plate
Lots of festivals, in all kids of weather
Canal Days and Tall Ships bring us together
We look forward to the carnival every year
Friendly rides, spinning rides and rides to fear
Living in a small town feels just right to me
With no pollution or big factories
I love my city, Port Colborne's the best
A caring community that outshines the rest! |
